Our 6th Annual Chapter Show is now in the history books, and what a great show it was! Boardwalk was very entertaining with their unique style of barbershop combined with banjo and base. Chordially Yours blew off another one with their, "If My Nose Were Running Money, I'd Blow It All On You". What a hillarious tune! John Anderson and the Men's Chorus from Polk State College sang several excellent songs and did an excellent job with some barbershop tunes but especially cool was a Swahili song they sang. And, of course there was the Sentimental Journeymen. What can you say about those guys. Excellent as always. With Todd Dantzler as M.C., the show came off quite nicely. Thanks to everyone who performed and helped put the show together, but especially to our patrons! 2014 was a great show and we hope to have an even better show next year.
November 11, 2013
Well our 5th Chapter Show is in the books. We had record attendance at both the 2PM and 7PM performances. "Chordially Yours" entertained with a favorite about Brians hair which "Blew-By-You" and "Tag Team" has developed into such a quality quartet that they soon may be HEADLINING on a Chapter Show. Can you say "District Contest" boys???
The "Hum Dingers" delighted the audience as usual with an incredible performance and "THE SENTIMENTAL JOURNEYMEN" delivered new pieces, humor ,(great puppets) and harmony. We are gearing up for the Christmas Season and have some local performances planned. Stay tuned for updates or reach out to us on our "Contact Us" page for more information.

Well, Obviously our upcoming chapter show is worth mentioning, even though it is displayed on our Home Page. The Sentimental Journeymen, along with Tag Team and The HumDingers will have you laughing and enjoying fine harmony. November 9 is the date at 2 and 7PM
You may have also noticed our billboard on Dundee Rd. We decided to try outdoor advertising to help increase our membership and it seems to be working. So often we hear that folks just dont know we are here. Now they will as hundreds of cars pass by this board while making there way back into Winter Haven. We have already had several inquiries from folks who said they saw our sign,
We will consider other locations in the future so let us know if you have suggestions. Incidently the current international Barbershop Harmony Society President, Shannon Elswick, first learned about barbershop singing by reading about it on a sign. Who knows, maybe a future president will see it as well and check us out!

We had a great show on November 10 and were happy to entertain two terrific audiences. We now set our sights on the holiday season now with performances at Glitter Glisten and Snow in Haines City December 1 and Carols in the Park December 2. We also have some plans for after the first of the year so please check back often for updates to our calender.
You may have noticed that we are no longer "The Orange Ridge Chapter". We decided that we would be more identifiable with our geographic location if we simply went by "The Winter Haven Chapter" because so often folks were asking "Where the heck is Orange Ridge"? Who knows, Maybe this will help futurre barbershoppers find us too.
As we move toward 2013 we will install new leadership from within the chapter. Some members will be stepping up to leadership positions and other will move aside, but stand ready to assist. Look for names and positions shortly.
In the meantime we wish you all a blesseed and joyous holiday season.
October 2, 2012
The show is set. November 10 at 2 pm and 7 pm. We will feature "Flashback" and Kevin Miles, The Voice of Disney! Tickets can be purchased here on the home page or by contacting Art Maynard at 863-852-9081.
This is our 4th annual show and the talent gets better and better each year. Please join us for a fun-filled evening of humor and harmony.

The Summer vacation season is coming to a close and folks are starting to return to rehearsals just in time for the new music planned for the November 10 show. We have many new faces and even some transfers from other chapters who like what we have to offer. Let's keep growing and encourage others to visit.
February 24, 2012
New barbershopper attendance has been great. So far almost every rehearsal this year has had visits from guys who have heard about us and come to check us out. We are signing up many after their 3rd visit which has kept our Secretary, Jim Fitz, busy with correspondence to Nashville regarding applications. Dick Tardy has been doing a great job with ads and getting the word out through local media as well.
We finished another Valentine season and were happy to deliver a number of singing valentines throughout the county. This years delivery included a small box of chocolate which seemed to be a big hit. Photo's of the deliveries can be viewed in our photos section.
more to come...

Thanks to all who attended and supported us last night at our 3rd Annual Show! We all had a great time and hope we were able to provide you with quality entertainment and fun. Special thanks goes out to Shannon Elswick, our MC, who also performed with Rare Blend. We really enjoyed the music and variety they provided. The spring convention for the Sunshine District was held in Orlando during the weekend of April 9th and 10th. The Sentimental Journeymen made a fine showing despite the fact that we were missing several strong singers. Overall it was another enjoyable time.
On April 19th we traveled to Sebring to visit our brothers from the Sebring Chapter, The Heartland Harmonizers. Jim Palmer and his gang were generous hosts and we enjoyed contributing to the sound of a large chorus. Thanks guys!
Spring/Summer is again upon us and some members have headed to the cooler states. We continue to rehearse on Thursday evening and invite you to visit. It would be great to have a decent membership increase before the chorus gets back to full strength in the fall.
Also, mark you books for November 12 which is the date for our annual show. Check back for info on headliners but I understand some champions will me in the mix. More to come...

Our second show is in the books and it was a huge success. The Sentimental Journeymen delivered another fine performance and we heard again from Chordually Yours, a VLQ from within the chapter, and witnessed the introduction of The Orange Ridge Boys, with their renditions of Zipadee Do Dah and Wait til the sun shines George!.......I mean Nellie! George Jenkins High School's ensembles, Encore and Voice Male pleased the crowd and participated in some barbershop style singing with the chapter between performances.
Res-Q finished the 1st half of the show with some harmony and humor and then the long awaited Hum Dingers completed at full day of harmony with amazing talent with their dance, singing and comedy! We really appreciate their involvement in our show!
A special thank you to Mr. Barry Porter, our M.C.
Additionally we have to thank the staff at Theatre Winter Haven. Molly and her crew could not have been more supportive! Thanks, Guys.
We hope that we were able to entertain and inspire more men to get out and sing with us so please let us know if we can provide further informaton on how you can get involved!

We are back!..The spring 2010 competition is under our belt and we are better for it!
Another 1st place in Plateau A...2 years in a row. Yes, we are aware that we were the only chorus in Plateau A this year. But we also improved upon our SCORE from last year by more than 2 points as was the goal set by our President, Dick Shaw! The experience was beneficial to us as a chorus and we walked away with tools that we did not previously have. The judges were helpful in their detailed critiques and have given us many suggetions to help us grow. Hey, not too bad for a chorus that has only been to 2 competitions.
March 28, 2010
Last night we performed at the annual show ("Thanks for the Music") of our fellow chapter from Polk County, The Citrus Lakes Chorus. Citrus Lakes welcomed guests with their opening set and delivered a fine performance that they can be proud of. They were followed by a youth quartet from Harrison School for the Arts, one of our chapter quartets (Res-Q), Good Ol' Boys quartet which included some assistance from our president Dick Shaw, and 70 Somethin'.
The Orange Ridge Sentimental Journeymen appeared after intermission to deliver 5 songs which included some of the selections we will be using at spring contest.
Harmonious Hunks followed with another amazing performance of comedy and harmony which gets better and funnier every time I see their show. They are a true example of what we strive to be in this hobby.
All performers came together for the finale and the traditional "Keep the Whole World Singing."
We thank the Citrus Lakes Chorus for inviting us to share the stage with them and look forward to more joint performances.
This is meant to be an informative note to report on our progress.
1st of all, we received our licensing through the Barbershop Harmony Society. This licensing was presented last spring during the Sunshine District competition in Jacksonville so we are officially known as The Orange Ridge Chapter. We also competed in that contest and took the first place ribbon in our plateau or level. Not too bad for our first time out.
Our new director, Mike Smith, developed a plan and we delivered our Charter Show at Theater Winter Haven on November 14. "The Sunshine Jubilee Chorus", along with "HOTSHOTS" and "Harmonious Hunks" quartets were our guest performers and our own quartets, "Chordially Yours" and "RES-Q" represented some of our hometown talent. The show was a great success and our next show is planned for November 2010. We also have designed this website (mainly through the efforts of Gines Cruz) so have a look and let us know what you think.
We have delivered over 100 singing valentines over the past two seasons all over Polk County and we have been asked to perform as a guest chorus at the annual show of The Citrus Lakes Chorus in Lakeland on March 27.
Our plan is to head back to competition in Jacksonville in April to see if we can improve our score from last year. As you can see we have been rather busy and we anticipate staying that way for a while. Please consider joining us and if we can provide any more information in the meantime please let us know. We meet at the Polk State College chorus room on Thursday evening at 7PM.
