Who Are We

Our chapter began by a simple phone call from Dick Shaw, our immediate past president, early in 2007.  It was that phone call that organized a meeting of local men who would eventually form the chapter into what it is today.  We now have 28+ active members and frequently have visitors at our weekly rehearsals.  Some visitors are experienced barbershoppers from other chapters and others are guys just coming in to listen and check us out.  We invite you to do the same!
We are a group that includes both experienced and novice singers that strive together to provide a satisfying singing experience and an entertaining performance package.  Novice singers can expect to receive instruction and singing aids that will advance their skills and provide the confidence to perform at a competent level.

The Barbershop Harmony Society (B.H.S.) is formerly known as S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America).  B.H.S. was founded in 1938 by Owen C. Cash with the first Barbershop meeting on April 11th.  From that date forward, the B.H.S. snow-balled into a world-wide organization of 4-part a cappella male harmony.  As of 2007 there were nearly 30,000 registered members  in the United States and Canada alone!   For 50 years the internatonal headquarters resided in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  In 2007, international headquarters was relocated to Nashville, Tennessee.
